This is another book that serves as proof that I would rather live in a dog's world than my own! But seriously, I loved the book and loved the way the author shows the cruelty of man toward beast. . . . but unlike the real world, there is justice and vengeance for the dogs in this book! I love dogs and I love dog books. This is one of the best! I have 10 of my own so I found the "voices" of the dogs to be spot on! Thanks Mr. MacKrell for such a fine job!Product details

Down from the Mountain The Bandit Series Book 1 1 James MacKrell Reviews
I love Aussie's and wolves. Great portrayal of both animals. The story line was so true based on facts I know to be true. Laugh and cry, enjoy. Anyone who loves animals will love this story and this author.
I loved this book and loaned it to my daughter. I have also been telling my
friends about it. I would give it five out of five stars. I had an aussie
that lived to be 17 years old, and she was one of the best dogs that I ever
had. When my twins were little and crawling, she would herd them like sheep
and would use her body to prevent them from crawling off the blanket. She
also caught us a burglar but that's another story.

I love dog stories and this one kept me on edge all the time. I wanted to know more about Bandit, Jenny and Sheena. Does the author have more books that I can get? Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!! books are so interesting and does a good job getting good books.
This is the second time I have read this book. For any person who loves the outdoors, nature and animals this is a must read.
I purchased the print copy for my grandchildren as a gift because I want them to experience the beautiful love of their master that dogs exhibit. No doubt I will read it again next year.
I loved this book, although that's not surprising as my world revolves around two black tri Australian Shepherds, including a boy with an all black face, copper markings above his eyes, copper legs, four white feet like snowshoes and a white blaze from his chin to his chest. Just like Bandit in the book! I could easily have been reading about my own beautiful boy.
The author captured the heart and soul of the Australian Shepherd dogs perfectly. Their loyalty and intelligence, their willingness to work and learn....even their uncanny knack of using their paws as hands and opening doors.
I loved the drama that unfolded as I read the story of Jenny and her pups, of Javier and his undying love for his dogs, and I loved the little stories told along the way. And I enjoyed the sense of community the author built as he went along....the farming community Javier lived in, and the canine community at the ranch. They complemented each other beautifully.
This is one of the best dog novels I have read to date, I will be recommending it to other animal lovers as it's a timeless story of the loyalty of dogs to the people who love and care for them.
I've been reading nothing but mysteries for quite awhile and 2 out of 3 I can't even finish because they are too boring. This book started out interesting and eventually built into real suspense. If you like dogs at all you will definitely get a charge out of this book. It's more than just entertaining. It's also educational.
But this one really touched my heart. Having had a devoted service dog, who made my daughters life livable and currently a Bearded Collie who is absolutely devoted to my granddaughter I know just how deep is the connection between dogs and humans. A wonderful tale told from both the dogs and owners point of view. I don't say master's, because it's an equal partnership.
Thanks Mr. MacKrell for such a fine job!
